At the request of the landowners the PA Fish and Boat Commission has established a "SPECIAL REGULATIONS, CHILDREN ONLY" fishing area on
Little Shamokin Creek. This regulation makes this area available to fishing exclusively for children 12 years of age and younger
April 15 thru May 31,
2017.  
 After May 31, 2017, this area will be open to fishing for all ages.

The area included is
THE TRANSMISSION LINE CROSSING UPSTREAM OF THE INTERSECTION OF COMFORT RD(T-538)  AND MILLER RD (T-
479):  Lat: 40.824553, Long: -76.751857 ,downstream to the BRIDGE ON COMFORT RD.: Lat: 40.829653, Long: -76.750070.  
Signs have been placed at this area to inform the public of this action, and will be closely monitored by PA F&BC enforcement officers.

The regulation stipulates that any adult who assists a child (12 years of age and under) by casting or retrieving a fishing line or fishing rod is NOT
required to possess a valid fishing license provided that the child remains within arms’ reach of the assisting adult and is actively involved in the fishing
activity.  An adult may assist a child by baiting hooks, removing fish from the line, netting fish, and preparing the fishing rod for use.
Adults MAY NOT "set the hook" for a child.
We will be hosting our annual YOUTH TROUT DERBY  at our Long Center, 182 Houser Rd., Sunbury
(Augustaville) off State Route 890. Youth ages 3 to 12 are invited to a day of outdoor adventure fishing
for trout. Youth under 10 must have adult present. Registration opens at 7:30 AM. Fishing begins at
9:00 AM.All youth must register to receive their gifts. The first 225 registered youth will receive
outdoor/fishing related gifts. Food and beverage will be provided to participants, additional food will be
for sale. There is no fee for participation. Fish bait will be available for participants. State daily limit of 5
trout minimum length of 7 inches will apply. Wading is restricted. Lower Augusta Volunteer Fire Dept. will

VFW Post 1532 and the Little Shamokin Creek Watershed Assoc. will be hosting a day of trout fishing for
all U.S. military active duty members and veterans.This event will be held at the watershed association’s
Long Environmental Stewardship Center 182 Houser Rd. Sunbury PA, near Augustaville.  At the request
of all the landowners, 1.1 miles of  Little Shamokin Creek will be reserved for the exclusive use of U.S.
military active duty and veterans on this day.  All participants must have a valid PA fishing license.
State daily limit of 5 trout minimum length of 7 inches will apply. There is no fee for participation.
Food and beverages will be provided by Post 1532 Registration and coffee will begin at 0800.
Fishing 0900 until 1600 ??  All active duty and vets are invited to day of trout fishing and comradery.
Active duty personnel must show ID
May 9:
Stocking trout for our annual Youth Trout Derby.  We will be stocking trout for the derby on Tuesday
evening May 9 rain or shine. The trucks will be leaving the Long Center promptly at 5PM to pick up fish at
Fiddler's Run Nursery. We will be returning to the Long Center around 6:30 PM to stock the trout. Around
this time we will also be receiving more trout from Cedar Springs Nursery to stock for the derby. Sounds like
a lot of fish....it is, all so the kids have lots of fish to catch. Volunteers are needed to help with the stocking.
